Concert and public defense of the PhD in the Arts of Korneel Le Compte.

After a career spanning more than 30 years as a solo bassist in the orchestra of the Opera House La Monnaie and a long career as a teacher at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussels and elsewhere, Korneel Le Compte is completing his trajectory with a PhD in the Arts about building bridges between, amongst others, the Wiener Violone from Mozart’s time and the catastrophe of Fukushima in 2011. More info can be found on the website of Brussels Arts Platform.

The CONCERT that is part of this PhD in the Arts will be presented at the magnificent Grand Foyer of La Monnaie/De Munt, on the 25th of November at 6 pm. Korneel Le Compte will be presenting the concert in duo with his partner, violinist Haruko Tanabe. The combination of her Viola d’Amore and Korneel’s Viennese Bass is literally unique: there is no other similar ensemble in the world. As there is no original repertory for the combination of these two instruments, Korneel and Haruko have been reworking music from four centuries, from baroque to contemporary, and with a few little digressions into Japanese music.

You are cordially invited to attend this special concert. Entrance is free, but reservation is required by means of an e-mail to Inge.Pieters@vub.be before the 20th of November.

The PUBLIC DEFENSE has been scheduled on the 26th of November at 2pm at Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (Petit Sablon 5, 1000 Brussels). Please send an e-mail to the address above before the 20th of Noveber to confirm your presence. The public defense will be followed by a drink.
We are looking forward to welcome you at one or both of these events.
